SEND advocacy involves supporting parents and carers to understand theirs and their child or young person’s rights, the local authority’s statutory duties, and the special educational needs and disabilities processes affecting their child.
At Squared SEND Advocacy & Support, SEND advocacy includes explaining options, reviewing documents, identifying procedural or legal issues, and supporting families to take informed and proportionate next steps. We do not make decisions on behalf of families — our role is to empower and support, not to replace parental decision-making.
No. We are not solicitors and do not provide legal representation.
We provide independent SEND advocacy, advisory support and document drafting assistance, informed by SEND legislation and statutory guidance. Where a matter requires legal representation, we will be clear about this and may suggest appropriate signposting.
This distinction ensures transparency and protects families from misunderstanding the scope of support offered.
You can check if you may be eligible for legal aid, and therefore legal advice, at www.gov.uk/check-legal-aid/

We do not alter professional reports, provide diagnoses, or override professional opinion. Our role is to help you understand how existing evidence can be used.
Timescales vary depending on the service requested and current capacity. Where possible, turnaround expectations are explained before work begins so you can make an informed decision.

Yes. We frequently work with families navigating complex needs, multiple professionals, disputed provision and systemic delays.
Where a case falls outside the scope of advocacy or would benefit from specialist legal input, we will be honest and signpost appropriately. We do not continue work where it would be misleading or unhelpful to do so.
